The Scottish Police College provides courses in policing, criminal justice and other related subjects for serving officers and new recruits. The Tulliallan Police College is a residential property that provides accommodation for officers from all over Scotland and was first opened in 1954 for police training and has been continuously improved since then. It is based within the grounds of Tulliallan castle.

The college has extensive facilities including a courtroom, a large lecture theatre, conference rooms, over 400 residential en-suite rooms, a large dining hall for 350 people, an onsite shop, a pub, a library, a swimming pool and numerous other leisure facilities.

Tulliallan Castle is a large house in Kincardine, Fife, Scotland, believed to be built in the 14th century. It is one of the best surviving examples of a Scottish hall-house. The castle has two different styles of architecture, one of which is Gothic and the other Italian. It is set on 36 hectares of land which is a mixture of woodland and green areas. Tulliallan Castle was originally used occupied by lords prior to WW2, before briefly being used by the Polish armed forces.

There are numerous rooms you can stay in, some are single occupancy, and some are twin rooms. The college bedrooms are basic with no frills, but all come with an en-suite, single bed and kettle, but they do not include a TV (although some may now do). Wi-Fi is available in some rooms and is widely available in common areas and lounges.

The Food at the Scottish police college

The food hall caters for over 350 people per sitting and can be extremely busy at mealtimes. Food is generally free of charge and is of a good standard. For breakfast, you have a choice of cereals, fruit and toast. Hot food is available at a price.

For lunch, there is normally soup of the day, a sandwich and a dessert available. The choice changes every day. It is similar to dinner with a soup starter, a hot meal and dessert. If you are staying at the college for an extended period of time, the food does get very same-same, but there is enough food to fill you up. For a special treat, Friday lunchtime normally includes fish and chips complete with tartare sauce.

There is a Starbucks café on site providing hot beverages and snacks throughout the day. There is also a snack shop open in the evening for snacks or souvenirs.
