Answers to common questions about the Join The Cops practice app. If you cannot find what you need, email us at [email protected].
Access and signing in
How do I access the practice app?
Go to app.jointhecops.co.uk and sign in with the email address and password for your account. The app works in your web browser on a computer, tablet or phone. There is nothing to download or install.
I have just bought Pro. How do I get in?
If you already had an account, sign in as usual: Pro is added to your account once your payment is confirmed.
If you did not have an account, we create one with the email address you used at checkout and send you an email with a link to set your password. If you cannot find it, check your spam or promotions folder. If the link has expired, use "Forgot your password?" on the sign-in page.
I forgot my password. What should I do?
On the sign-in page, select "Forgot your password?" and enter the email address linked to your account. We will email you a link to choose a new password.
I am not receiving your emails.
Check your spam or promotions folder and add [email protected] to your contacts. Make sure you are using the email address you used to sign up or to pay. If you still cannot find our email, contact us and we will help.
Can I change the email address on my account?
Yes. Email us from your current address with the new address you would like to use.
Can I download the guides as PDFs?
No. All content, including the Recruitment Guide, is available online in the practice app. We no longer offer PDF downloads. If you bought a PDF guide from us in the past and need help, contact us.
What is included
What do I get for free?
When you sign up with your email address, you get free access to Practice Paper 1 and the first 3 sections of the Recruitment Guide. No payment card is needed.
What do I get with Pro?
- 6 PSET-style practice papers (340 questions with worked explanations)
- a timed mock exam mode
- score tracking and history
- the Recruitment Guide (17 sections)
- structured lessons
Pro costs £39.99, including VAT. It is a one-time payment, not a subscription.
Is this the official Police Scotland test?
No. Our papers are PSET-style practice papers covering the three areas Police Scotland says the PSET assesses: language, numeracy and information handling. They are not official Police Scotland material. Police Scotland publishes example PSET questions on its recruitment pages, and we recommend you look at those too.
Join The Cops is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Police Scotland.
Can I share my account?
No. Your account is personal to you. Sharing login details, or copying and sharing the content, is not allowed under our Terms and Conditions and may lead to the account being closed.
Access period
How long does my access last?
Your access period is the one shown in the offer when you bought, and it is confirmed in your purchase confirmation email.
- The access period is shown on the offer when you buy. Pro currently gives unlimited access for as long as the service is offered.
- If we change the access period for new purchases, purchases made before the change keep the access period they were sold with.
What happens when my access ends?
Your account stays open and your scores remain saved. Pro content is locked, and you can buy a new access period at the current price.
Pass guarantee
How does the Pass guarantee work?
If you sit the Police Scotland Entrance Test (PSET) twice after buying Pro and do not pass, we refund 100% of the price you paid.
How do I claim?
Email [email protected] from the email address linked to your account, attaching the two official notifications from Police Scotland telling you that you did not pass. Send your claim within 30 days of the date of the second notification.
The conditions in short:
- both sittings must take place after your purchase;
- results at other stages (fitness test, assessment centre, interview, vetting) are not covered;
- one refund per customer and per purchase;
- the refund is made to your original payment method, and your Pro access then ends.
We reply within 14 days of receiving everything we need. The full conditions are in section 12 of our Terms and Conditions.
Cancellation and refunds
Can I cancel within 14 days?
Pro is digital content that we make available immediately. At checkout, you ask for immediate access and confirm that you understand you lose your 14-day right to cancel once access starts. This is why there is no 14-day cancellation after your access has started.
If you did not give that request at checkout, you can still cancel within 14 days of your purchase by emailing us, and we will refund you in full.
We recommend trying the free practice paper first, so you can see how the app works before you buy.
What if something does not work?
Tell us at [email protected] and we will fix it. Your legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 apply: if the content is faulty or not as described, you are entitled to a repair or replacement, or, where that is not possible, a price reduction, which can be up to a full refund. The Pass guarantee is in addition to these rights.
Your data and your account
How do I delete my account?
Email us from the address linked to your account and we will delete it. Some purchase records must be kept for accounting and tax reasons. Our Privacy Policy explains how long we keep data.
How do I stop marketing emails?
Use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of our marketing emails. Service emails (such as password resets and purchase confirmations) will still be sent while you have an account.
